BREAKING: Erling Haaland may need to reconsider his exit strategy from Manchester City despite contract clause coming into effect.
Manchester City desires to enter into a new contract with star striker Erling Haaland to eliminate a release clause that could result in the Norwegian moving abroad.
Erling Haaland must secure a new contract with Manchester City in order to prevent one of Europe’s elite clubs from acquiring their star forward.
Since becoming a member of Manchester City in 2022, Haaland, who is 23 years old, has stormed the Premier League, where he has won consecutive league titles and set numerous goalscoring records.
The lucrative contract that the Norwegian, who has scored an astounding 90 goals in just 98 games for City, still has to run out after three years. He inked it last summer. Mirror Football reports that a release clause that would have permitted an international club to acquire him for £175 million is now in effect.
This number will decrease each summer, leaving City susceptible to foreign interest; therefore, the club considers securing Haaland’s future to be a top priority.
Although Haaland’s inclination towards a transfer is uncertain, his father, Alf-Inge, has previously detailed the striker’s ostentatious farewell strategy.
He implied in the documentary “Haaland: The Big Decision” that his son’s ambition to dominate Europe rendered it improbable that he would remain in England for longer than four years.
Haaland Sr. stated, “I believe Erling desires to demonstrate his prowess across all leagues.” After that, his maximum tenure in Manchester City will be three to four years. “He might spend, say, two and a half years in England, followed by that time in Spain, Italy, or France,” is he correct?”
Additionally, he detailed several prospective suitors for Haaland, which included Real Madrid. “From our perspective, City is the best team,” he stated. [Bayern] Munich occupies the number two spot. Real Madrid is ranked number three, while Paris Saint-Germain is ranked number four.
Although the Spanish titans have been widely predicted to be Haaland’s preferred destination upon concluding his career with Manchester City, the imminent acquisition of Kylian Mbappe by Los Blancos could potentially disrupt those plans.
It seems improbable that Real Madrid could accommodate both the 25-year-old Frenchman and Haaland, given that he has declared his intention to quit Paris Saint-Germain at the conclusion of his contract. His impending confirmation as a Real Madrid player is imminent.
Rafaela Pimenta, Haaland’s agent, implied that Real Madrid is the “dreamland” for every player last year, thereby fueling speculation of a potential transfer to the Bernabeu.
She stated at the FT Business of Football summit in London in 2023, “Real Madrid and the Premier League are both formidable. Real Madrid possesses a unique quality that transforms the club into the players’ paradise. Madrid maintains this enchantment. While the league competition may not occur on a weekly basis, the organization does host the Champions League.
