Arsenal is anticipated to submit an offer for one of Europe’s most prominent strikers in the near future.

As you may have heard, Benjamin Sesko, the thirty-one-year-old striker for RB Leipzig, was reportedly Arsenal’s top target as Mikel Arteta sought a new striker. However, he has opted to remain with the German club.

Arsenal is preparing to submit an offer for an alternative player, prompting Edu to shift his focus.

Arsenal will submit a bid to recruit Napoli No. 9 Victor Osimhen in the next few days, according to a report from Area Napoli in Italy.

The Italian news outlet reiterated that the Gunners initially desired Sesko, but they will now proceed to the Nigerian international after receiving the Slovenian international’s decision.

The report does not specify the amount of money Arsenal will offer Napoli for Osimhen; however, it does indicate that the north Londoners will not activate his £102m release clause. The report simply asserts that the Gunners will offer “a lower sum” in comparison to this figure.

In addition, the Italian news outlet asserts that Napoli would have an easier time negotiating with PSG and Saudi Pro League teams, as they are prepared to offer a higher salary. However, the Nigerian player himself would prefer to transfer to the Premier League.

Arsenal is purportedly considering pursuing the Lagos-born striker.

Osimhen, who was acquired by Napoli from Lille in July 2020 for €75 million (£63 million), scored 17 goals in 32 appearances during the previous season and has accumulated 76 goals in 133 games for the Italian titans.

After Charles Watts alleged in March that the 25-year-old’s agent has already visited London Colney for talks with the Gunners, talk of an imminent bid from Arsenal has emerged.

Last season, Arteta’s team was devoid of a ruthless No. 9 who could score goals despite the Gunners’ unfavourable circumstances. This individual should be capable of finding the net from nowhere and effectively feeding off scraps, while also heading the line with confidence.

Neither Eddie Nketiah nor Gabriel Jesus were able to accomplish any of those objectives, as they only scored a combined 14 goals. Additionally, neither player possessed the physical ability to impede defenders and facilitate the work of players such as Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard.

On the other hand, Osimhen is a genuine threat who is willing to run the channels and does not allow his opponents a moment of respite. His exceptional goalscoring record in Naples is indicative of his ability to finish.
