Both Victor Lindelof and Andre Onana are in agreement over a ‘smart’ Manchester United player following the club’s FA Cup victory
After beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 on Wednesday, Man United moved on to the next round of the FA Cup.
After Casemiro scored a late goal to win the FA Cup game against Nottingham Forest, Victor Lindelof and Andre Onana gave him a lot of credit.
Casemiro was taken off at halftime on Saturday because he hurt his head in the league loss to Fulham, but he was cleared to play at the City Ground.
United had a chance to beat Forest and move on to the FA Cup quarterfinals, but neither team scored until the very end of the second half. It looked like the game would go to extra time, but with just one minute left, Casemiro scored a header that saved the game.
United will play Liverpool at Old Trafford in the FA Cup quarterfinals. Lindelof told the BBC after the game that Casemiro was great.
“Of course we were very happy,” the back said. We knew it would be tough, and it’s always fun to score late and move on to the next round. We’re all very happy.
“I believe Casemiro is very good at timing everything.” It was the perfect ball and the perfect play from Casemiro. He’s a smart player who has done that a few times in his career.
“We’re going to focus on one game at a time because we have a nice pair of games coming up.” We’re happy with how things went.
“A good finish from Casemiro, and it was a really important goal for us,” Onana said in the chat after the game with Lindelof. We all know how important it was for us to win, so I’m very pleased with this win. This is what we earned for all our hard work.
“As a Manchester United player, you have to win, which is why we came here.” The game was tough because our opponent was good, but we won, and now we need to improve for the next games.
