Big Blue Nation has the craziest fans, according to Jeff Goodman.
One of the best groups of sports fans is Big Blue Nation. There aren’t many fan groups in the world that would fill up a press conference to name a new basketball coach or sell over 20,000 tickets in 26 minutes to what was basically a practice and hype event (Big Blue Madness). Even though they disagree about whether to stand or sit, you can’t deny how passionate they are. With 10 crazy basketball fans, Jeff Goodman has made his list for 2024, and Kentucky is at the top of the list. “No. 1 Crazyest was easy,” he said. “After that, it’s hard to decide.”
All of the players and coaches were presented from the stands at Big Blue Madness, which is why the picture goes well with the graphic. An ode to the people of Big Blue Nation who have helped Kentucky basketball do well. Mark Pope, the head coach, talks about BBN all the time in interviews and press appearances. Pope wouldn’t say what the basketball players were doing in New York City before their game against Ohio State at Madison Square Garden because BBN would be there. It’s true, but he laughed about it.
It was also fun for him to talk to Jim Rome this week. “Our guys get it from the first moment that their name is mentioned as a possible recruit by the University of Kentucky,” he said. It’s a flood of messages from our fans on social media.” It was fans on the plane, in the airport, and during the visit itself who then bring them new members. They are really into it, and venues are packed.
This group of fans should be happy to be so passionate and “crazy,” as Goodman put it in Big Blue Nation. The players and prospects feel proud of it. The coaches can feel and see it too. Part-time teacher Alvin Brooks III was one of the first people to share the above Field of 68 post.
Big Blue Nation, good job! Keep it up, stay upbeat, and keep things interesting.
