Everton
Before Everton plays Fulham in the Premier League, Jermaine Pennant makes a new statement about the team.
Jermaine Pennant says that Everton can beat Fulham because they have “turned that corner” in recent weeks.
Pennant told Jason Cundy on talkSPORT (25 October, 11:23pm) that he doesn’t think there will be many goals when Everton hosts Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday (26 October).
Sean Dyche’s team hasn’t lost in four games, keeping two clean sheets and two wins. Pennant doesn’t think the Cottagers will be able to beat Jordan Pickford.
“I don’t think there will be any goals in this,” he said. “I can’t see Everton giving up a goal at home.”
“I believe they have turned the corner now that they haven’t lost in a month and they seem stronger.”
I’m going with an Everton win by a score of 1-0 because, as you may remember, they haven’t been scoring many goals this season.
Fulham is a game that Everton’s defense will really want to win.
Given how often Pickford made mistakes in the first four games of the new Premier League season, you could have thought that he wouldn’t be able to keep a clean sheet the whole season.
With only four goals scored and thirteen given up in their first four games, Everton fell to the bottom of the table.
Since then, though, those holes have been fixed, even though Chelsea’s defensive injury problem hasn’t stopped. Another clean sheet against Fulham would make it three in a row for the Blues.
It looks like star player Jarrad Branthwaite will be back soon, but the form of Michael Keane and James Tarkowski makes it hard for Dyche to decide which center back to drop.
