Back he is! This winter, you can find out when and where Wout van Aert will race cyclocross for free here.
It’s Wout van Aert again! After weeks of rumors, the Team Visma | Lease a Bike star has finally announced his winter cyclocross schedule. He hasn’t been able to race since his Vuelta a España crash.
The Belgian has to run in six races, which is a lot less than usual. This winter, the multiple cyclocross world champion will race in Mol, Loenhout, Gullegem, Dendermonde, Benidorm, and Maasmechelen. After that, he will focus on the road races in the 2025 Spring Classics and Grand Tours.
In a news release from Visma, Van Aert says, “Cyclocross is still my first love, which is why I enjoy going back to it every winter.” “This winter, we chose a short schedule of six races that work well with my training plan.” I’m looking forward to the cyclocross season because I love the sport, but I don’t have any big goals. Since I hurt my knee in the Vuelta crash, I need to make the most of the time I have to get ready for the road season. A few cyclocross races work well with that plan, but the schedule is meant to be less full than in past years.
As Van Aert tries to lower expectations, he says, “That (the opening race in Mol ed.) will be the first goal to work toward, but I certainly won’t reach my highest level there.” “I expect to be in better shape for the two great races on the calendar after a training camp: Benidorm and Maasmechelen.” The conclusion from Van Aert is, “I’m so excited to get back on the field and see all of my fans again.”
