Everton
As the January transfer market opens, Sean Dyche tells Dominic Calvert-Lewin that he shouldn’t be touched, even though the striker’s current contract ends at the end of the season.
If Everton could lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin for free next summer, they would rather do that than risk losing their spot in the Premier League by selling him in January.
Calvert-Lewin’s deal ends at the end of the season, but Sean Dyche doesn’t want to sell the center forward because he thinks he is too important to the team.
Everton will start the 2025–26 season in a brand-new stadium on the water. Next month, American Dan Friedkin hopes to take over the club.
Recently, the Merseysiders have been known for moving players, like Anthony Gordon and Amadou Onana, for large amounts of money. They play Fulham on Saturday after getting eight points from their last four games.
On the other hand, Dyche is sure that they will be able to keep Calvert-Lewin from being bought by wolves in the New Year.
“Premier League football for Everton Football Club is the bigger prize in this case,” the boss said.
The most important thing for me since I’ve been here is keeping our position safe. As we’ve gone along, we’ve had to bring in money, but thankfully we’ve never been forced to give away people for free.
„We can still decide what to do, and I don’t see anything that would stop Dom from staying here until the end of his deal and hopefully longer.
“Of course I have an opinion on who gets traded, who leaves, and who signs contracts.” Kevin Thelwell, who is the club’s sporting director, will run the business side of things. Kev and I have worked well together so far. What we think is pretty much the same.
Dyche isn’t getting too excited about Friedkin just yet because Everton has had other takeover attempts fail in the past.
There is a chance that the 27-year-old Calvert-Lewin, who has played 11 times for England, will wait to decide his future until he sees what happens in the office.
“That seems fair, doesn’t it?” “Just wait and see what the bigger picture is,” the boss said.
This man has been here for a long time. Possibly he is asking himself, “Which way is the club going?” In what direction am I heading? In what way do I fit into it? No, I don’t think that would be wrong.
“Oh yeah, what if this, what if that?” is a useless thing to do until the deal is actually done.
This season is also coming to an end for Dyche, and he hasn’t met Friedkin yet. Friedkin already owns Roma and is in advanced talks to buy Everton from Farhad Moshiri.
“I don’t know what their next steps would be, but the first thing they need to do is get the club. This is a story that has happened before and during my time, with plans for new ownership not going through for some reason,” Dyche said.
After a week of training, Blues defender Jarrad Branthwaite should be ready to play again. At the same time, Everton will have former star Alex Iwobi at Goodison Park.
