As Man Utd talk, Ruben Amorim shows up at Sporting’s training ground.
Negotiations are still going on between Manchester United and Sporting CP to bring Ruben Amorim to Old Trafford, but the boss of the Portuguese club showed up to work at the training ground as usual today.
Reports said that Amorim would be heading to England on Wednesday, just one day after managing Sporting in their game against Nacional. Despite United’s interest in Amorim, a deal has not yet been made because the two teams are still talking about how much to pay. The month-long notice time means Amorim probably won’t be able to fly to England until the end of November.
There were rumors that Amorim might be flying to Manchester today, but a story from Record in Portugal showed him arriving at the Sporting CP training ground as usual. Although United’s interest seems real, there’s still no promise he will be in charge.
There are a few options for United. They could pay Amorim extra to leave Sporting before his notice time ends, or they could look elsewhere. Despite different claims, Amorim has already spoken his intention to join the Manchester team and is ready to depart Sporting in the middle of the season.
After losing to West Ham United on the road on Sunday, Erik ten Hag was fired on Monday. Inesos made a choice quickly, which will definitely impress United fans. Fans may have wanted ten Hag to stay, but it’s a good sign that INEOS is already looking for a replacement.
United’s game against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup is on Wednesday night, and Ruud van Nistelrooy might still be in charge when they play Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend. While ten Hag was at the club, the Dutch coach worked with him, so it will be interesting to see if there are any big changes to the team’s strategy or players now that Van Nistelrooy is in charge.
