Arsenal secure deal for most dramatic signing on transfer deadline day since Mesut Ozil

With the imminent arrival of a colossus, Arsenal may once again disrupt the internet.

Arsenal has undertaken substantial acquisitions on Deadline Day in the past. Again, they are in discussions regarding an additional installment.

Mesut Ozil, a Real Madrid A-lister, was transferred to the Gunners in a club-record transaction that shocked the football world a decade ago. Since then, the club has refrained from engaging in such Deadline Day manoeuvres, which was particularly unusual for them.

Neto has already been loaned from Bournemouth for the remainder of the season. However, it appears that there may be an additional surprise in store.

Fabrizio Romano, David Ornstein, and Sky Sports News are all reporting on Mikel Arteta’s significant decision to reverse course. Romano has confirmed that Arsenal has an agreement with Raheem Sterling, subject to the completion of a transaction between the two clubs. Arsenal is currently in negotiations to acquire Sterling.

Chelsea has explicitly stated that the England international has no future in the club under the leadership of Enzo Maresca. Additionally, Sterling’s squad number has been assigned to Pedro Neto, which suggests that his time at the club is drawing to a close. However, Sterling’s opportunity to secure a new club is rapidly diminishing during this transfer window.

Arsenal is purportedly only interested in a low-cost transfer. Chelsea is somewhat compelled to act, as Victor Osimhen is expected to arrive and the club is uncertain about whether or not to retain Sterling for the remainder of the season.

FourFourTwo believes that this transaction has the potential to be a masterstroke for Arsenal. The Gunners do not require an additional forward, as they currently have six attackers in their roster. However, the opportunity to acquire Sterling’s experience and calibre at an appropriate price would be worthwhile.

Arteta has also demonstrated his ability to rehabilitate players from Stamford Bridge through his work with Kai Havertz and Jorginho. It is worth noting that Nicolas Anelka was the most recent player to have represented Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City.

According to Transfermarkt, Sterling is valued at €35 million. His contract with Chelsea is set to expire in 2027.
