The 2024 Velo d’Or winner, Tadej Pogacar, was announced as the winner in a ceremony that was mostly expected. He had a season that broke all kinds of records over the last twelve months.

Without a doubt, Pogacar was the best rider in 2024; he had a season from the gods. From his first race of the season, a stunning solo at Strade Bianche, to his last pedal strokes, a stunning solo at Il Lombardia, the Slovenian has been unbeatable. Pogacar added the Rainbow Jersey to his Grand Tour double, following in the footsteps of Nicholas Roche and Eddy Merckx. He was the first man since Marco Pantani to win both the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France in the same year. Plus, Pogacar won two monuments, 12 Grand Tour stages, and a lot of other races. It was an amazing season that will go down in history.

During the event, the Slovenian also won the Eddy Merckx Trophy as the best Classics rider of the year for his efforts. The award was given on stage by the legendary Belgian Classics rider Tom Boonen.
