Advantage for Manchester City in the Champions league quarter final as Real Madrid announced a major injury setback on their major team player

Real Madrid has been dealt a major injury blow before their quarterfinal matchup with Manchester City in the Champions League next month.

Real Madrid said that goalie Thibaut Courtois hurt his knee again while training. This makes it less likely that he will be able to play in next month’s Champions League quarterfinal against Manchester City.

City was paired with Real on Friday, which means they will play the La Liga title favorites in a few weeks. Tuesday, April 9, is the date of the first leg at the Bernabeu. The following week, on April 17, the second leg will be played at the Etihad Stadium.

Madrid has been a rival for City in the Champions League for the past two years. Last year, City beat Madrid in the semi-finals. The first leg took place in Spain and ended in a tie. In the second leg, Pep Guardiola’s team blew away the European giants, winning 4-0 to achieve a 5-1 win overall.

Courtois, who used to play for Chelsea, started both of those games, but he is now doubtful for both of this season’s games against Chelsea, which will make his injury problems even worse. Madrid hasn’t said for sure how long the Belgian player might be out, but other stories say he might not play for two months, which means he might not play again until the end of the season.

On their website, Madrid said, “Thibaut Courtois has been diagnosed with a ruptured internal meniscus in his right knee after tests were done today [Tuesday].” The accident happened during today’s training. The issue will be watched over.

Courtois, who will be 32 in May, has missed the whole season because of an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). He hasn’t played since June of last year, when he came off the bench in a 1-1 draw between Belgium and Austria.

It was during a training session in August of last year that the goalie hurt his left ACL. The shot-stopper has now hurt his right knee, which is the second bad thing to happen to him in less than a year.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, on loan from Chelsea, and Andriy Lunin, from Ukraine, have filled in for him in goal while he was away. In recent weeks, the second player has become Carlo Ancelotti’s first choice goalkeeper. He started both games of their win over RB Leipzig in the last 16 of the Champions League.
