Keith Wyness, who used to be the manager of Everton, said he “always had questions” about how many people the club’s brand-new, ultra-modern stadium can hold.

The 66-year-old, who was CEO of Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now runs a football consulting business that helps top clubs, said on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that “most people now recognize” that a stadium with more than 60,000 seats would have been “more appropriate.”

Everton is finishing up their brand-new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium. When it opens in 2025, it will be able to hold 52,888 people.

The impressive building was created by architect Dan Meis. It began construction in 2021 and is expected to cost more than £750 million.

For example, Wyness told Football Insider on October 16 that the stadium’s size means it can’t hold the Champions League final.

The new home for Everton will be ready for the 2025–26 season.

Wyness worries about how many people can fit in Everton’s new stadium.

I’ve always had questions about the capacity that was chosen,” Wyness said on the Insider Track show from Football Insider.

“But that’s where we are.”

“There are a lot of rules about the site because it’s in a dock.”

It’s too complicated for me to understand what planner Dan Meis did with the club.

“Studies and costs will have been taken into account.”

“I believe that most people agree that a capacity of over 60,000 would have been better.”

That being said, it’s great to see how far things have come. I don’t know if Meis has planned for a way to add more space in the future.

“We’ll just watch how things develop.”
