A player who is not wanted by Chelsea is “ready to do whatever they can” to get rid of him
The left back position for Chelsea is a complete and utter shambles.
Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, Lewis Hall, and Ian Maatsen were all competing for minutes during the summer of last year, making it our most important area of strength not too long ago. However, since then, Hall and Maatsen have left (temporarily with the intention of making permanent moves), and it appears that Cucurella might be the next of their departures.
Caughtoffside is saying today that Chelsea are “ready to do what they can” to get rid of him. This information comes from the club.
In Spain, there are reports that he is interested in returning to La Liga, which is the league in which he established his reputation prior to moving to Brighton in the Premier League.
Money is going to be the problem. Because we paid Brighton such a high price for him, it is highly unlikely that even Barcelona or Real Madrid will come close to providing what we are looking for. This is not even taking into account the teams in La Liga that might really be interested in signing him. It would appear that the most effective approach to get ourselves out of this issue, at least in the near term, would be to lend him out and pay the majority of his income first.
After recovering from his injury, he is currently participating in training once more; thus, we will have to wait and see what solutions the club comes up with in order to get through the remaining months of the season.
