TRANSFER: Manchester United keen on signing Bayern Munich and Everton stars. Talks in progress
The Athletic reports that Manchester United are still interested in recruiting Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite, despite having signed Lille wonderkid Leny Yoro.
Yesterday, the Red Devils announced the acquisition of Yoro from Lille in a transaction valued at £52 million, with an additional £7 million in add-ons. However, they have not ruled out the possibility of acquiring an additional center-back.
The club is said to maintain an interest in De Ligt and Branthwaite; however, the club’s ability to negotiate additional agreements would ultimately be contingent upon sales and the availability of space in the first-team squad.
Branthwaite is less probable to be signed by United than De Ligt.
At the commencement of the summer transfer window, the Red Devils prioritised Branthwaite.
The club attempted to secure the highly-regarded Englishman through a few proposals; however, they were unsuccessful in convincing Everton to reduce their demands. The £70 million asking price was not met by their most recent offer of £50 million.
The club has not submitted a new proposal, and in our opinion, they may consider releasing him following the £59m investment in Yoro. In the upcoming weeks, De Ligt may be the more feasible objective.
The personal circumstances of a transfer to Old Trafford have already been agreed upon by the Dutchman. United prioritised the acquisition of Yoro over him; however, they could potentially acquire his services at a later date during the transfer window.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are potential candidates to depart. Fenerbahce is expressing interest in the former, who has already entered the final year of his contract.
It is highly probable that Lindelof will depart in the upcoming weeks. This could potentially facilitate De Ligt’s entrance. A transfer package of approximately £42 million could be required for the Dutch international.
