Aston Villa may launch an extraordinary effort to re-sign Jack Grealish, the forward of Manchester City, this summer.

The 28-year-old has not appeared for Manchester City since a 5-1 victory over Wolves at the Etihad Stadium in early May. He did not participate in the Premier League finale against West Ham or the Emirates FA Cup Final loss to rivals Manchester United.

Grealish, who appeared in only 10 Premier League matches during the most recent 2023/24 season, was also regrettably excluded from Gareth Southgate’s 26-man roster for the European Championship last month. The Three Lions had advanced to the semi-finals with a penalty-shootout victory over Switzerland on Saturday.

The forward appeared in only 36 matches for Manchester City during the most recent season and scored only three goals for the Sky Blues. This is Grealish’s lowest goal total since his arrival from the Midlands in 2021 for a record-breaking £100 million.

The Englishman has won seven trophies, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League with Manchester City, as Guardiola’s side clinched a sixth title in seven years. However, Grealish’s season was further complicated by a series of injury problems and the addition of Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais.

The 28-year-old is currently under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2027; however, there have been rumours of a potential departure from east Manchester this summer, as a result of the escalating concerns that have arisen amid an underwhelming season.

Manchester City are reportedly prepared to sell the forward this summer, despite the fact that the new campaign is just over one month away and the Sky Blues are scheduled to travel to the United States for a four-match tour later this month, according to Football Insider.

The outlet reports that Etihad executives have “concerns” regarding Grealish’s “partying” lifestyle and would be “willing” to approve the sale of the 28-year-old if they are able to “recoup a large chunk” of his nine-figure transfer fee.

Additionally, Aston Villa is said to be eager to re-sign the 28-year-old this summer, as Unai Emery’s team will be competing in the Champions League next year as a consequence of their historic top-four finish last season.

Grealish, who has been training at the Juventus academy as part of pre-season preparations, is anticipated to be included in Guardiola’s travelling squad to the United States this month. Manchester City will be playing friendlies against Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea.

In mid-August, the Sky Blues will commence their Premier League title defence against Chelsea. Additionally, they will face Manchester United in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium next month.
