Guardiola’s team is dissatisfied with the “unfair” treatment from the Premier League as they expect APT verdict soon

Manchester City has alleged that the Premier League has treated them “unfairly,” and a verdict in the APT case is reportedly “expected soon.”

Man City was accused of violating more than 100 of the Financial Fair Play regulations by the Premier League at the beginning of 2023. This was the result of a four-year investigation into their actions from 2009 to 2018.

This case has already been protracted for an excessive amount of time; however, it has recently become even more intricate as Man City initiated an unprecedented legal dispute with the Premier League in order to advocate for the repeal of Associated Party Transaction (APT) regulations.

However, the City’s APT case was recently heard, and the FFP hearing is anticipated to commence later this year.

The prospective sanctions would be less severe if they were to win the first case, which would render a significant portion of their FFP charges redundant. However, if the outcome is unfavourable to them, they may be subject to a substantial fine, a deduction in points, a transfer suspension, or expulsion from the Premier League.

Keith Wyness, the former CEO of Aston Villa and Everton, stated earlier this month that a “deal could be struck” between the Premier League and Man City to resolve their dispute. However, it is uncertain whether this will transpire.

Man City and the Premier League are not on good terms, as they have contended that the “analysis of their commercial income is unfair” due to the fact that the “company scrutinising their deals works for rival clubs,” according to a report from The Guardian. The report provides a detailed explanation.

Manchester City is alleging that the Premier League has unjustly assessed their commercial income by relying on the analysis of a data company that also works for their rivals.

‘The Guardian has discovered that Nielsen Sports, a global data and media valuation firm that has contracts with numerous top-flight clubs, conducted the league’s examination of the reasonable market value of City’s deals.

It is believed that City have brought up the Premier League’s use of Nielsen in their legal dispute regarding associated party transactions (APT), which involve the negotiation of sponsorship or revenue agreements with businesses affiliated with their owners. The matter was heard in private last month. Although it is uncertain when the landmark case will be made public, a decision is anticipated to be rendered in the near future.
