Man United makes Marcus Rashford verdict on his future with the club as Ligue1 giants plot fresh swoop
HITC has been informed that Manchester United is prepared to allow Marcus Rashford to depart the club this summer, as French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain are expected to reignite their interest in him.
Rashford has faced a challenging 12 months following one of his least productive campaigns, which culminated in his exclusion from England’s Euro 2024 squad.
After the most successful season of his career, Rashford signed a substantial new contract in 2023, which elevated him to the position of United’s highest earner. However, his earnings have plummeted precipitously since then.
HITC has been informed that Rashford’s abrupt decline in performance has left United perplexed, despite his status as a senior squad member and a figurehead who has emerged from the club’s academy.
Erik Ten Hag has been compelled to make significant disciplinary judgements as a result of Rashford’s involvement in numerous off-field incidents over the past 12 months.
In October, Rashford visited a Manchester nightclub shortly after their 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City. Ten Hag expressed his dissatisfaction with the circumstances at that time.
“I discussed the matter with him.” The Dutchman expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation, stating, “It is intolerable…he issued an apology.” However, this was not the sole matter with Rashford that Ten Hag was compelled to address.
Rashford was compelled to exit the game on the afternoon of their FA Cup match at Newport County, despite having been observed in Belfast in the days preceding the match in South Wales.
According to HITC, Rashford encountered additional complications throughout the season; however, Ten Hag resolved them. One of the primary reasons INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe elected to retain him was his management of Rashford. They value his ability to maintain a disciplined and appropriate approach to the squad.
While assisting Ten Hag in winning the FA Cup at the conclusion of the season, HITC has been informed that the fraught relationship between Ten Hag and Rashford has led United to the conclusion that a parting of the ways may be the best course of action for all parties.
In addition, HITC has been informed that the club’s new footballing department had a significant concern regarding Rashford’s off-field conduct and on-field performance. He was also a subject of the recent end-of-season review.
The futures of Captain Bruno Fernandes and Ten Hag were also discussed, and it was determined that both were essential to United’s future. However, Rashford’s status was not as favourable.
HITC has been informed by sources that United has communicated to intermediaries associated with Rashford that they will not obstruct him if there is sufficient interest.
Also, we have been informed that PSG, the French heavyweights, are once again interested in Rashford. They expressed interest in him last summer and believed they were on the brink of signing him, but he ultimately chose to secure a new contract with Old Trafford.
However, the current circumstances are significantly different, as sources have informed HITC that Rashford is currently considering relocating to the French capital. He was previously associated with the Saudi Pro League; however, we are aware that this may not be to his liking.
PSG is now prepared to make a move, provided that they continue to receive sufficient encouragement from United and Rashford. At present, there is no indication that either party would impede any potential transfer.
Although the wages of Rashford, which are approximately £300,000 per week, would be a concern for the majority of clubs, PSG is one of the few that could negotiate a satisfactory agreement.
