Douglas Luiz set to join Serie A giants in major swap-plus-cash deal as two players move to Aston Villa

Douglas Luiz is on the brink of a transfer to Juventus, as Aston Villa is prepared to sell the Brazilian midfielder in order to comply with expenditure regulations.

Luiz is currently participating in the Copa America with Brazil. However, he is prepared to relocate to Serie A in a deal that would also result in the transfer of Juventus peripheral players Samuel Iling junior and Enzo Barrenechea to Villa, who would receive approximately £25 million.

Villa’s financial burden would be somewhat alleviated by the agreement. In order to guarantee that they will not violate the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations (PSR), the club must generate revenue this month.

Any club that exceeds the permitted losses – £105m over the previous three years – risks a points deduction, as occurred to Everton and Nottingham Forest last season, and the current accounting period concludes on June 30.

Juventus has also reportedly secured a portion of any future transfer fee that Villa may receive for Iling or Barrenechea, according to sources in Italy, should this transaction be completed.

Despite the fact that homegrown midfielder Tim Iroegbunam was in the process of finalising a transfer to Everton, Luiz may not be the only high-profile departure from Villa this month.

Full-back Villa transfer chief Monchi is utilising his contacts in the European game to attempt to square the circle, as Matty Cash would generate a substantial profit for PSR purposes and has been proposed to both AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Jhon Duran, a forward, is also available for transfer, as Unai Emery is eager to enhance his options at full-back and in midfield, in addition to providing additional support to Ollie Watkins.
