Man Utd’s hopes of signing Michael Olise could be ruined by Erik Ten Hag decision

The pursuit of Michael Olise has resulted in Manchester United potentially setting themselves up for failure.

This summer, Manchester United is targeting Michael Olise; however, the Red Devils may incur a financial burden in their efforts to enhance their squad by postponing a decision regarding Erik ten Hag’s future.

Despite the substantial investments made by Rasmus Hojlund, Antony, and Jadon Sancho in recent years, Ten Hag himself acknowledged that the United vanguard requires reinforcement in the coming months.

Olise has been pursued by the newly appointed decision-makers at INEOS, which are under the leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, in order to restore United to their former levels of success.

United has harbored a deep admiration for Olise for an extended period, and there are numerous reports that suggest they are prepared to intensify their pursuit of him and lure him away from Crystal Palace. However, they are confronted with substantial competition due to a release clause in the Frenchman’s contract.

It is improbable that this will occur, as Ten Hag is expected to remain in charge of United. He will also negotiate with the organization regarding the extension of his current contract, which is set to expire at the conclusion of the upcoming season.

However, the postponement of a decision regarding Ten Hag’s status is likely to have made potential targets hesitant to approve a transfer to Old Trafford up to this point, as their rivals were able to demonstrate a level of stability that had not yet been attained on the red side of Manchester.

Chelsea have terminated their relationship with Mauricio Pochettino, appointed former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca, and reached an agreement with Olise on personal terms while Ratcliffe and his colleagues deliberated over Ten Hag.

The transfer market can now commence, as Ten Hag is now aware of his future at the club. However, the Red Devils may already be a few steps behind their counterparts at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea may have an advantage in their pursuit of Olise due to the stark contrast between their precision decision-making and that of Old Trafford.

United will perceive that the decision to either retain Ten Hag or identify a replacement necessitated a significant amount of time. However, by declining to reach a resolution in a timely manner, their competitors have been able to outpace them in the transfer market and advance on players such as Olise, should they wish to do so.

In contrast, United were compelled to observe their targets’ evaluations of opposing initiatives with established figureheads and a more appealing prospect, while Ten Hag’s future was left uncertain.
