Man City could be without three key players for Liverpool game next week
Next weekend, Manchester City may be without a number of ailing players against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Ederson, the first-string goalkeeper for Manchester City, may be unavailable for the Premier League match against Liverpool later this month.
On November 25, Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning squad will travel to East Manchester to face Liverpool, who trail City in the Premier League standings by a mere one point after 12 matches.
Ederson, who participated in Sunday’s thrilling 4-4 draw between Manchester City and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, is currently running out of time to recover from a foot injury that formally withdraws him from Brazil’s squad and prevents him from facing Liverpool. His possible absence would be the most recent in a string of setbacks for manager Pep Guardiola.
The Cityzens will already be without the talisman of the group, Kevin de Bruyne, due to a recurrence of the hamstring injury he sustained in the Champions League final victory over Inter Milan last season. The Belgian is presently inactive.
John Stones, who transitioned from a defender to a midfielder, is also expected to miss Manchester City’s match on November 25 due to a muscle injury he sustained during last week’s 3-0 Champions League victory over Young Boys. Guardiola, who recently allayed concerns that England international Stones might spend an extended period of time sidelined, acknowledged that he did not know whether the England international would be ready to face Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium the following weekend.
Guardiola stated, “The doctor says it’s not as bad (as was initially believed), but I still don’t know.” “Upon regaining his physical fitness, he will return.”
In the interim, defender Sergio Gomez is also ruled out of the match as a result of an injury.
