What has been called a “basic refereeing error” helped Liverpool beat Nottingham Forest 1-0, a win that could decide the Premier League title race.

A goal by Darwin Nunez in the 99th minute gave the Reds all three points at the City Ground. It was the earliest goal in Premier League history.

What went on between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool?
Ibrahima Konate got hurt in the head when Callum Hudson-Odoi had the ball after 98 minutes.

Reds should have been given the ball back inside the Forest third, but they got it instead.

After getting the ball back, Jurgen Klopp’s team went on the attack. The home team won the ball twice, but failed to clear it, and Nunez scored the game-winning goal.

Forest was very angry, and the owner, Evangelis Marinakis, yelled at Tierney as he ran down the hallway, “Respect the players!” It takes place every week.

Andy Gray and Richard Keys of BeIn Sport were very critical of Tierney’s work as a referee.

Gray said, “That’s the whole point—they give it back to the team that has it.” “A team can’t lose the ball.”

When Keys saw pictures of the angry Forest players yelling at the judge at the end of the game, he said, “He’s telling you to talk to me inside, not out here.”

When Gray spoke up, he said, “You can’t take the ball away from the team in the last third and hand it to the other team.”

“That’s not true. And Forest were very angry. They worked so hard on it.”

“It’s a basic refereeing error, and it shouldn’t happen at this level,” Keys said in the end.

As for Liverpool, they’ve had some questionable calls this season. The most famous was when Luis Diaz’s goal against Tottenham was called offside because of a communication problem with the VAR officials.

With the goal on Saturday, Klopp’s team moved four points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. City will play United on Sunday, and Pep Guardiola’s team will come to Anfield next weekend.
