Erik ten Hag made fun of Jamie Carragher’s study of Man Utd’s tactics, but Carragher responded.

Erik ten Hag said that Jamie Carragher was biased against Manchester United after his harsh analysis of last Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Fulham. Jamie Carragher replied by saying that ten Hag was wrong. Ten Hag made fun of the former Liverpool defender who now works as a commentator for Sky Sports after he defended his team in a press conference earlier this week. The former defender has spoken out against Ten Hag.

Before West Ham United beat Brentford 4–2, Carragher and Gael Clichy talked about what went wrong for Ten Hag’s team on Monday Night Football.

Carragher focused on how United was set up and where Ten Hag’s players were placed, implying that the boss was to blame.

But the Dutchman launched an angry attack on the Liverpool legend before Wednesday’s FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest, calling his opinions on United “subjective.”

He said, “First of all, some analysts are very objective in what they say, which is good advice. Others are very subjective.” So far, Jamie Carragher has only said bad things, and now he wants to make his point.

Ten Hag’s angry words seemed to make Carragher feel better, as he used his analysis of United’s tactical flaws on Sky Sports as his cover picture on X (formerly Twitter).

Having finally spoken out about it, he now says that he likes the 54-year-old man’s strong defense against the accusations.

Carragher wrote for the Telegraph, “My analysis on Sky’s Monday Night Football last week was meant to show why United are so inconsistent.”

“Manager Erik ten Hag went back to fix what he thought was unfair judgment. He thought I had been harsh from the start.

“It was actually from game two, when his United team lost at Brentford. But it was meant for the players, not the boss.

I think it was smart of him to say what he did. Managers who stand up for themselves and their teams are people I admire and respect.

If making United feel like they are under siege leads to good results and better play, then that is the right response.

After investing £1.3 billion in United last month, Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to make a big choice about Ten Hag’s future.

After taking full control of football operations from the Glazer family, INEOS is making big changes to the club’s sports system.

And since United might not win any titles or finish in the top four this season, some might question whether Ten Hag is the right boss to bring back the glory days at Old Trafford.

But Carragher thinks that United won’t be the best team in England again until Pep Guardiola quits his job as manager of rivals Manchester City. It doesn’t matter who is in charge.

As long as Pep Guardiola is in charge of English football, Manchester United shouldn’t try to knock Manchester City off their perch, he wrote.

“United can get new owners, hire the world’s best CEO and sporting director, improve their hiring process, fix up Old Trafford, and get their best manager since Sir Alex Ferguson.”
