Roy Keane has talked about why Liverpool’s young stars are getting the chance to impress the club’s next boss.

The last few months of Jurgen Klopp’s time as boss of Liverpool are here. Klopp told everyone in January that he would be leaving his job at the end of the season.

After the game, there was a lot of talk about who might replace Klopp as manager at Anfield. Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen and Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP are two possible candidates who have been linked to the job opening.

Klopp is still in charge, and he is still determined to help the club have as much success as possible. He led Liverpool to win their second Carabao Cup during his time in charge, beating Chelsea in the final over the weekend.

In extra time at Wembley Stadium, several youth players played against Chelsea’s first-team players. In the cup final, James McConnell, Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns, and Jarell Quansah all saw the game out for Liverpool after being given a great chance.

McConnell, Clark, Quansah, and Lewis Koumas all started Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth-round match against Southampton.

During his time as a game commentator, Keane was asked about the possibility that Liverpool’s young stars will want to impress whoever becomes the club’s next boss. The former Manchester United captain talked about how the players’ great play could help the club’s next boss see what the future holds.

“During every game, you have a chance to impress the manager,” Keane told ITV Sport.

“You don’t know who will come in the summer, but potential managers will look at these players and think about whether they can put together a team around them.”

“It’s still early days and you don’t want to get too carried away, but they have got an opportunity again [vs Southampton].”
