🚨 JA MORANT IN TROUBLE AGAIN: Suspension Highlights Tensions with Coach Tuomas Iisalo

After a heated altercation in the locker room led to his suspension from the team, Morant has not played well for the Memphis Grizzlies this season.

The Memphis Grizzlies have gotten off to a disappointing start in the 2025–26 season. They have a 3-6 record and are now in the 13th spot in the Western Conference.

The head coach and star player are embroiled in a public standoff.

Point guard Ja Morant was suspended for one game last week for making statements that were disparaging of head coach Tuomas Iisalo.

Despite being the highest-paid player on the squad and a two-time All-Star, Morant has been embroiled in a number of scandals recently.

Last Friday’s defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers is the genesis of Morant’s most current suspension.

Morant allegedly replied “in a tone the franchise deemed inappropriate” to Iisalo’s post-game criticism of his leadership on the floor, according to ESPN.

The incident was discussed, and everyone is now focused on beating the Pistons, according to Iisalo. “That one is on the inside. We will not go into depth at this time.

Following this, Morant received a suspension, which caused him to sit out Sunday’s game against the Toronto Raptors.

Even though he was activated for Monday’s game against the Detroit Pistons, Morant delivered some cutting comments during the postgame news conference following his team’s latest loss. Reporters asked him why he was so down about the game, and he brought up the coaching staff multiple times.

“According to [the coaching staff], probably don’t play me, honestly,” Morant said in response to a question about the team’s potential areas of improvement. The point of the message was essentially to convey that. “It’s awesome.”

The Grizzlies may have to consider trading a guy who was touted as a long-term focal point if the current situation cannot be rectified. The five-year, $197.2 million deal he inked with the club in July 2022 is now in its third year.

As of this summer, he is eligible for a three-year, $178 million extension, but his existing deal ranks him as the league’s 28th highest-paid player.

Even though there aren’t many teams in the market for a starting point guard, Morant’s potential is undeniable, and he’s still only 26 years old. With his future in Memphis being a real subject of discussion, the next few weeks could prove to be the most pivotal of Morant’s seven years here.
