Kyrie and Kelvin Durant Beef heats Up as they both Air Dirty on X!

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant spent 2.5 years in Brooklyn as teammates. They joined forces with the express purpose of helping the Nets win the championship.

Unfortunately, their plans fell through. That squad was unable to perform to its full potential due to injuries and other external circumstances.

Durant and Irving have been feuding online for years, and it all started with that same team.

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant Air Dirty Laundry on X

A week ago, Kevin Durant was on the Mind the Game podcast, during which he talked about how things unfolded in Brooklyn. Steve Nash, his former head coach with Brooklyn, is one of the hosts on the podcast. Speaking about the situation, Durant said,

I thought we were safe, but I was afraid everything else would fall apart. And I mean it positively.

We’re losing general managers to other clubs. Some of our instructors are leaving for other clubs.

Players are even pressuring each other to make deals. Ben Simmons is brought in because his back hurt. Everything around us was full of bulls**t. I felt like we were both committed to this and on the same page, as if we were attempting a monumental task.

As a coach, you had a lot on your plate, and I get the impression that you had your hands tied quite a bit.

Unfortunately, I feel like we didn’t get the whole Steve Nash show.

That was just before the COVID-19 pandemic, if fans recall correctly. Before James Harden joined them in Brooklyn, it was Kyrie Irving and KD who came.

However, due primarily to injuries, the trio didn’t get much playing time together.

Irving missed games one season because he had to get a vaccine. Nevertheless, was Kyrie the guilty party? One of the greatest NBA duos in Irving and Durant’s time together was when they played together.

Now, one week later, Irving made a post on X, stating that he will shortly respond to Durant’s stream comments. “Lemme set this noti.” Durant retweeted the tweet, which he later removed. Perhaps he will also remove it.

What appeared to be a fraternity has apparently devolved into animosity. The dirty laundry is out in the open, regardless of whether Irving chooses to address it on his stream or not.

Fans Taking Kyrie’s Side

Judging by the comments on social media, it seems more fans are aligning with Irving instead of Durant on the subject. Some replies include:

  • Yeah, because Kyrie speaks honestly, unlike you, who has burner accounts and can’t be accountable for what you have done wrong on a team. You were one of the players requesting a trade.
  • We are still waiting on that stream of you explaining why you have been hopping from one superteam to the next for the past 8 years and only have 2 rings to show for it.
  • He gone debunk all that bi*ch a*s s*it you was talking.

Did Kyrie or Kevin Durant Break the Nets?

During the Mind the Game podcast, Durant talked about how some players forced trades. But if we look back at history, KD was the first one to ask for a trade. In the summer of 2022, Kyrie was looking for a contract extension from the Nets. Because he didn’t get any, he opted into his deal. A few days later, just hours before the start of free agency, reports came out that Durant had asked for a trade out of Brooklyn.

The Nets didn’t trade him in the summer. They waited until the deadline, and eventually struck a deal to send him to the Phoenix Suns. A few days before that, they traded Irving to the Dallas Mavericks. The fun part is that this summer, there were talks about KD being traded to the Mavericks, where he would have played again with Irving.
