Kyrie’s ACL Recovery On Track: Latest Update Brings Optimism

Signing a three-year, $119 million contract to stay with the Mavs, Kyrie Irving is aiming for a midseason comeback after recovering ahead of schedule from ACL surgery.

Dallas star point guard Kyrie Irving has been recovering from ACL surgery for the past four months.

He tore the ACL in his left knee during a March 3 game against the Sacramento Kings, underwent surgery just over three weeks later, and missed the remainder of the 2024–25 season.

But according to Mavs GM Nico Harrison, Irving’s recovery is going better than expected.

“Kyrie’s ahead of schedule, but we kind of knew he would be,” Harrison Said. “But we don’t want him to rush it as much as he wants to rush it.”

ESPN’s Shams Charania previously reported that Irving is targeting a midseason return, aiming for the January–February window.

Earlier this summer, Irving declined his $43 million player option and signed a new three-year, $119 million contract to remain with Dallas through the 2027–28 season.

In 50 games for the Mavericks last season, he averaged 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.3 steals.

Irving hasn’t played more than 60 games in a season since 2018–19.
