New Fish in the Block: Grizzlies land Big man Landale in a Free Agency Splash

After a hectic day, the Grizzlies added new players to their roster and traded for others.

While the nation was still recouping from Fourth of July festivities, the Memphis Grizzlies enjoyed a very exciting day.

They needed to sign a new centre after a string of deals.

To begin, on Saturday night, the Indiana Pacers were acquired by the Grizzlies in exchange for centre Jay Huff.

Despite being thrust into the starting lineup out of the blue after 30 games played in the 2024–25 season, Huff shone as a standout for Memphis.

Adding free-agent centre Jock Landale to the Grizzlies’ rotation—joining Jaren Jackson Jr., Santi Aldama, and Zach Edey—kicks off an important campaign for the organisation, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, who broke the news minutes after the original trade rumours.

In the first part of the season, the Grizzlies were among the best in the Western Conference.

However, they struggled in the second part and ultimately fired coach Taylor Jenkins.

In the first round of the playoffs, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated Memphis. Desmond Bane was traded to the Orlando Magic earlier in the preseason, leaving rookie coach Tuomas lisalo to lead Memphis into the next season.

The Houston Rockets were Landale’s team for the past two seasons. He is 29 years old. His average was 4.8
