As part of his Make Them Watch world tour with Nike, Memphis Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant will make his first trip to Manila on August 2.
Together with his Filipino admirers, Morant will work out with high school players in real time and play an exhibition game to help them develop their game.
Morant is embarking on his first world tour as a Nike signature athlete, and he and the brand are working together to inspire players all around the globe to show their individuality and innovate.
“Basketball is all about work and creativity—putting in that grind but also playing with your own style,” said the flamboyant guard, who was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2020 and the Most Improved Player in 2022.
“I can’t wait to pull up and tell the story of my journey to the kids of today and tomorrow,” he continued.
A stop in New York City during summer hoops this month will be the first stop on Morant’s Make Them Watch international tour, which will also stop in China, Tokyo, and Manila.
It is my intention to enquire about the local basketball culture as well.
His enthusiasm for the opportunity to learn about different cultures through basketball was palpable, he said. (Intern Angelo Caparas)
