Gary Neville, a commentator for Sky Sports, predicts that Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker will be “grateful” following the disallowed goal scored by Manchester City in Saturday’s Premier League draw at the Etihad Stadium.

The Reds goalkeeper fumbled the ball in the 68th minute of the match while under duress from Manuel Akanji, who made contact with the stopper.

Although Ruben Dias was in position to convert the ball at the back post, the referee promptly disallowed the goal, which was subsequently confirmed by VAR.

Fans were divided on the city’s objective after the decision to rule it out. While some individuals believed it to be a penalty, others believed Alisson had erred.

Neville suggested on Sky Sports that he believed the £67 million man had “made a mess of it” in “real time” and therefore concluded that the decision was the correct one.

Nevertheless, the legendary player for Manchester United added that the officiating call was “soft” and that Alisson will be “grateful” for the outcome.

“At the time, I believed Alisson had botched the situation. “There is a trace of a right arm,” he declared. “This one is gentle, and Alisson will appreciate it.”

Although Alisson is ordinarily a goalkeeper of the highest caliber, even the most exceptional players occasionally exhibit subpar performance.

Notwithstanding his subpar performance at the Etihad, the fact that Liverpool can return to Anfield with a point indicates that the situation has been reasonably resolved.

Alisson “felt something” during the match, as confirmed by Jurgen Klopp; therefore, we can only hope that it is not a severe injury.

Klopp stated at his post-match press conference, as reported by the Liverpool website: “Clearly, Ali and Diogo both felt something during this match, which casts a shadow over the entire contest.”Something that requires evaluation; we shall then observe.

Further discussing Alisson’s fitness, he stated, “I hope it’s not that serious, but I currently have no idea what it is. I do not have the answer at this time.”

“He informed me that he felt it only slightly; however, we must await the results of the scan.”
