Shocking News!!! Grizzlies Star sidelined with Turf Toe Injury

The Memphis Grizzlies have issued a statement in response to the most recent injury update involving their star player.

Jaren Jackson Jr., a standout for the Memphis Grizzlies, reportedly extended his deal by a whopping $240 million for five years, just over twenty-four hours after the news broke.

The Grizzlies were relieved that they didn’t have to sign him to a larger contract when he was named to the All-NBA team, which was huge news for both Jackson Jr. and the team.

Unfortunately, Jackson Jr.’s joy was short-lived; just one day before the Grizzlies’ crucial 2025–26 season, the standout defensive forward received some bad news.

On Tuesday afternoon, rumours began circulating that during an away basketball game, Jackson Jr. sustained a surgically necessary turf toe injury. Despite the team’s promise to keep Jackson updated and their expectation that he will recover fully, they failed to set a recovery schedule.

The Memphis Grizzlies today provided the following medical update on Grizzlies forward/center Jaren Jackson Jr.: While participating in a live basketball run offsite, Jackson Jr. sustained a turf toe injury in his right foot, which upon expert evaluation yesterday, was determined to require a procedure to repair,” per Grizzlies PR.

An update and preliminary timeline will be provided following the procedure, but Jackson Jr. is expected to make a full recovery,” read a team-issued statement on Tuesday evening,” they added.

With only two 70-game seasons in seven years in the NBA, Jackson Jr.’s availability has been a bit of a problem. True, he just had one of those seasons, starting all 74 games for Memphis. His career-high point average came in 2023–24, when he played in 66 games and averaged 22.5 points per game. Last season, he was just.3 points shy of that mark.
