
In exchange for centre Yang Hansen’s draft rights (No. 16 overall), a future first-round selection, two future second-round selections, and Washington State wing Cedric Coward’s (No. 11 overall) 2025 draft rights, the Portland Trail Blazers sent the Memphis Grizzlies a trade request.
The Grizzlies revealed the trade today. Last year as a senior at Washington State, Coward (6-5 ½, 213) played in 33.0 minutes per game and had an average of 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 blocks.
His prior college experience includes two years of play at Eastern Washington, where he was a 2023–24 All–Big Sky First Team selection and a 2023–24 NABC All–District 6 First Team selection during his junior year.
This 21-year-old played in 72 games (34 starts) during his three years at the Division I level for the NCAA.
In 26.5 minutes a game, he averaged 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists while shooting 59.5 percent from the field, 38.8 percent from 3-point range, and 83.2 percent from the free throw line.
In addition to a 66.8 effective field goal percentage, he fired 72.0% from beyond the arc.
Coward, a 2021–22 freshman from California, played in 24 games for Willamette University and averaged 19.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game. Among players in NCAA Division III, his 19 double-doubles were second to none.
