The unveiling of a memorial to club legends Mike Summerbee, Colin Bell, and Francis Lee is imminent for Manchester City.

Next Tuesday morning, prior to City’s UEFA Champions League match against RB Leipzig, the tribute will be unveiled.

In May of 2022, city chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak declared the tribute to the legendary triumvirate. He stated, “I believe it is crucial to bear in mind the names of Colin Bell, Francis Lee, and Mike Summerbee.” This club has an extensive past. These are members of the club who have made significant contributions. They have merited perpetual admiration, perpetuity with monuments.”

Next week, Manchester City will honor these three club icons with an exhibition.

Following the club’s treble success, the City chairman disclosed that the statue would be a tribute to their service to the organization. He claimed it was done in recognition of the club’s illustrious past. “Having Francis, Colin, and Mike together in a magnificent work of art is the very least we can do in recognition of their efforts,” he continued. “Leaving that enduring legacy – perpetually a reminder of the extraordinary past that Manchester City has,”

David William-Ellis, a sculptor, was identified as the creator of the tribute via mancity.com. “Create a work of art for Manchester City Football Club that honors the diverse and talented players Bell, Lee, and Summerbee,” he said in reference to the honor. Over the past two years, I have had the most incredible time working on this project, which honors these players from a golden age in the annals of Manchester City football.”

Tuesday’s unveiling of the tribute will follow in the footsteps of comparable observances for David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero, and David Silva. At the Etihad Stadium, there will be commemorations of numerous prosperous periods and individuals throughout the club’s chronicles.

The piece by David William-Ellis will serve as an appropriate homage to three players whose enduring impact at Manchester City has been nothing but magnificent.
