The Premier League issued a warning about Man City’s “unfair” punishment, while Liverpool told they “wouldn’t want” the league title.

Two trophies were won by Manchester City over Liverpool during the epoch in which the latter is currently the subject of a financial investigation.

It would be unjust, according to Shaun Wright-Phillips, to deprive his former club Manchester City of any championships, and their rivals, including Liverpool, would have no desire to claim them either.

Man City is currently the subject of scrutiny following Everton’s 10-point deduction for a single violation of the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations. City is also the subject of an internal investigation.

The 115 charges against the recurrent champions indicate that while the Blues’ penalty is the most severe of its kind in the history of the Premier League, more severe penalties remain possible. These may include a larger deduction, transfer embargo, financial consequences, or even the possibility that their accomplishments are expunged from the record.

Wright-Phillips, a former City winger, told NewBettingOffers.co.uk that he does not consider the latter to be a fair resolution to the situation.

“I don’t think it would be fair for Manchester City to be stripped of any of their previous honours should they be found guilty of any of the charges against them,” he continued. “I do not believe organizations would want to take those trophies away from City; doing so would be unfair. They would not perceive themselves as deserving them in good faith.

“Irrespective of the circumstances surrounding the initial revelation of these allegations off the field, the management of the team and the performance of the players remained crucial in order to secure those championships.” Notwithstanding events occurring off the field, nothing should be deducted from the collective efforts of the club’s managers, players, and supporters. They are accountable for the club’s current success.

Over the course of the nine-year period in which their purported financial misconduct occurred, they achieved three league championships, three League Cup victories, two Community Shields, and one FA Cup.

The 2013/14 championship was decided in direct competition with Liverpool, who ultimately failed to secure the trophy by two points. Two years later, in the first season under Jurgen Klopp as manager of the Reds, City prevailed on penalties in a fiercely contested League Cup final between the aforementioned clubs.

Even the term “expulsion” has been mentioned in relation to City, but Wright-Phillips is confident that his former club will be able to recover from any penalty.

“No matter what happens to City I think the fans will all stick together,” he reiterated. “They have been in darker places before; the fans remained even when they were in last place in Division Two, and I do not believe that will change now.”

“At this time, all they need to do is continue progressing on the field and negotiate that bridge when the opportunity presents itself.” They have not yet been found guilty. As of yet, no events have transpired; therefore, their resistance indicates that they hold the belief that they have not committed any wrongdoing.
