Just In: Kentucky fans got PTSD from a quote by Mark Pope, even if it’s true.
A very good Clemson team beat the Kentucky Wildcats 70–66, giving them their first loss of the season. Head coach Mark Pope and his brand-new team were put to the test on the road. Kentucky played off most of the night, which shows how much pressure was on the Clemson players and the crowd.
Following the game, Pope told reporters that Kentucky is being watched and that all teams will play their best. Other teams really want to beat the Wildcats, so they’ll be ready, excited, and ready to play. Ky fans, on the other hand, laughed at the way he said it.
“Well, that’s true!” someone from the outside might think when they read or hear this quote for the first time. Kentucky is a blue blood, and people want to beat them, especially when they are number 4 in the country.” This line makes Kentucky fans cringe because it was something the head coach, John Calipari, often said when his team lost.
A lot of what Steve Moore said in the tweet above has been said in the comments sections of the news stories that used that quote. That made them think of Coach Cal, but not the good parts of Coach Cal. It made them think of the bad parts.
In fact, the quote is true. Pope might want to rephrase it, but teams, coaches, and players are coming to Kentucky to beat the Wildcats badly. The fans got there five hours early and waited in the cold to get in. It was clear from Clemson’s game plan and the way they played. This was Clemson’s Super Bowl early in the season. That may need a different word, but it’s true.
After the game, the fans rushed the court and within a minute, the whole court was filled with cheers from the winners over Kentucky. The Wildcats will always have someone after them, so they will need to be ready.
