Reportedly, Ruud van Nistelrooy asked his players to support Ruben Amorim in his last message as Manchester United’s interim boss.

Despite having a great time as manager of PSV, Van Nistelrooy went back to United before the new season to help Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman was finally shown the exit door after INEOS tried to shake up Ten Hag’s backroom staff but failed.

Over the next few games, the former scorer was put in charge of the Red Devils. Without losing a game, United won three of their four games while he was in charge, which is a good sign.

The fan favourite told his players to “get behind” Amorim and “work hard to bring back the glory days under the new boss,” according to The Sun. He then watched as his team beat Leicester City 3-0 to end his time as temporary manager.

The outlet said that a source said the club hero wanted to stay at United but knew that Amorim might have other plans.

“He told the players that he was glad to be back and lucky to have managed the team for four games,” the person said. There is still a chance he could come back one day. It has helped his job as a manager and strengthened his already strong ties with United.

He told the players everything and told them to give the new boss their all.

From what The Sun said before, the first team also wanted Van Nistelrooy to stay at Carrington and work for Amorim.

This was not Amorim’s plan, though. The news came out right away that Van Nistelrooy, Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel had all left the club after he got to Carrington on Monday.

It’s no secret that the Portuguese tactician and his trusted team had a lot of success at Sporting CP. They will likely be a part of his planning in Manchester.

People in the know say that the new United manager will have Carlos Fernandes, Emanuel Ferro, Adelio Candido, Jorge Vital, and Paulo Barreira working for him.

Darren Fletcher and Andreas Georgson will stay with Amorim, which is interesting. Both have been with United since 2020, but the second one was hired in the summer by technical head Jason Wilcox.
