What Old Trafford did after Erik ten Hag was “kicked out of the dressing room” by Manchester United

Fans of Manchester United were happy to see Shola Shoretire when he went back to Old Trafford to play for his new team, PAOK, against United in the Europa League.

When Shoretire, 20, came on as a replacement in the second half, United fans cheered him onto the pitch to show their appreciation for the graduate of their academy. The summer came to an end, and he quit the club.

The winger made his name under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, when he became the youngest player in club history to play in European competition. He still holds that record. Even though he went on loan to Bolton Wanderers to improve his chances of making the first team, Erik ten Hag made it hard for him to get minutes.

When the Dutch manager got there in 2022, he was one of several players who were allegedly moved to the under-23 changing area because so many new players had been brought in. Phil Jones, Brandon Williams, Axel Tuanzebe, Teden Mengi, and Shoretire are said to have been among them. The now-PAOK star wasn’t in Ten Hag’s plans, though.

The forward said this about his move from Manchester to Greece: “Of course it was hard to leave, but I felt it was the right time for my career.” I’m happy with how things have gone so far at PAOK. It seemed like a great club to join.

Despite a slow start to their European endeavours, United won a 2-0 win against PAOK thanks to Amad’s double at Old Trafford. But the team’s performance was especially good for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s second-to-last game as temporary head coach. Ruben Amorim will take over as manager after the game against Leicester City this weekend. He will be in charge again.
