It’s possible that Tadej Pogacar is the best professional rider right now. His accomplishments in 2024 have elevated him from a great to a legendary figure in the sport’s history. This is mirrored in his contract, which sees his salary rise even further, even though he was already the highest paid rider in the peloton.

The Gazzetta dello Sport of today says that Pogacar’s new pay is €8 million per season. His old pay was €6 million, so this is more than that. The team, which is backed by the Emirati government, has the money to hire the best riders in the world as well as many of the best young riders. This has helped them become the best team in the UCI right now. The story also says that there is a €200 million clause in the contract that makes it almost impossible for anyone to get out of the deal.

A big reason for that is Pogacar, who won a lot of races this year, including the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France, the GP de Montréal, the World Championships Road Race, the Giro dell’Emilia, and Il Lombardia. With 25 races under his belt, he has already achieved some great goals and is still working towards others. For example, he might one day want to break the record for most stage wins at the Tour de France. Pogacar just signed a new deal that keeps him with the team until 2030. He is now tied with Pablo Torres for the longest contract in the team’s history.

This new trend in the market may have also had something to do with Pogacar and his fiancée Urska Zigart’s decision to start a women’s development team. There is a good reason why Pogacar doesn’t have almost twice as many UCI points as his closest foe Remco Evenepoel right now. He also doesn’t make nearly twice as much as any of his competitors, though. Recently, though, it was said that Red Bull, BORA, and Hansgrohe were ready to pay Remco Evenepoel €10 million a year, which would make the Belgian rise above this number.
