Angry about the “ludicrous” West Ham vs. Manchester United game, Ian Darke

In West Ham’s 2-1 win over Manchester United on October 27, Ian Darke said the choice to give them a penalty was “ludicrous.”

Matthijs de Ligt and Danny Ings got into a fight near the end of the game, and VAR called for a penalty for the Hammers.

Following that, Jarrod Bowed scored the goal that sealed the win for the Irons at the London Stadium, but Darke voiced his opinion on the matter on X [28 October].

It was an absolutely ridiculous pen choice that gave West Ham the win over Manchester United, he wrote.

“Simply stupid.”

The West Ham vs. Manchester United scandal

Fans at the London Stadium won’t be upset about the penalty, but even the most devoted fans will agree that it was too easy.

The ball also seems to hit the scorer in the arms before he goes down, but De Ligt barely touched him.

But that doesn’t change the fact that Julen Lopetegui’s team was again second-best for long stretches. The Hammers should feel lucky.

Even though a lot of money was spent on the team during the last trade window, the Spaniard hasn’t been able to make any progress since taking over.

The 58-year-old former head coach of Wolves has some good players, but he hasn’t been able to get the most out of them on the field, which was clear again against Manchester United.

For many years, Lopetegui was the boss of the Spanish national team and Sevilla. But the things that made him stand out in those roles have not been seen in East London.

If this keeps up, it’s unlikely that the 58-year-old will be in charge of the Irons for a while, even though the leadership is behind him right now [Florian Plettenberg, 26 October].
