Dwight McNeil’s latest injury comes after the key Everton player limps off. “He was on the edge.”
Dwight McNeil left the 1-1 draw with Fulham on a limp, and Everton is worried about how healthy he is. The 24-year-old got help in the away team’s penalty area, but he limped off and shook his head when Sean Dyche asked him if he was okay to play again.
In the hours after the game, the problem hadn’t been fully looked into yet, but Dyche said he hoped it wasn’t too important.
Blues manager was asked if he knew anything about the injury after the game. He replied, “Not yet, not yet.” He had to take it off, of course… He was on the edge, so let’s hope it’s not too bad.
As of now, McNeil has been a big part of Everton’s season, causing some of the best moments of the year.
With three goals, including amazing ones against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, he is the club’s top scorer in the Premier League. He has also set up several goals, including the one that Michael Keane scored against Ipswich Town last week.
People know McNeil as a tough and fit player, which is one of the reasons Dyche has included him in his plans.
If he gets hurt, it will make things harder for the Blues in the middle and on the attack.
James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam, two central midfielders, will be out for a long time with back and foot problems, respectively. Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti, two forwards, are also trying to recover from long-term injuries.
When Jarrad Branthwaite came on late against Fulham, it was at least proof that the center-back was back to full health after hurting his quad.
Dyche had a full defense to choose from for the first time this season going into the game, with Nathan Patterson and Seamus Coleman on the bench with him.
