Take part in the Everton protest against “exploiting loyalty.”

There will be a rally at Goodison Park tomorrow night before the televised match between Fulham and Everton to support the Football Supporters’ Association’s Stop Exploiting Loyalty campaign.

Following repeated protests by Fulham fans against the club’s outrageous pricing policy, a coalition of fan groups and websites held a yellow card protest before and during the game at Craven Cottage last year.

Nearly two-thirds of Premier League teams raised the prices of season tickets, with an average increase of seven percent. Prices went up by 20% at Nottingham Forest and more than 21% at Wolves for season tickets. West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur both got rid of senior concessions, but fans have started campaigns to bring them back.

There needs to be coordinated action because the money the Premier League makes from domestic and international broadcasts is huge compared to the money it makes from ticket sales.

Former Trust chair and lifelong Fulham fan Tom Greatrex, who is now chair of the FSA, said:

„The Premier League and its clubs need to pay attention to this message—clubs should value and reward loyal fans instead of taking advantage of them.

Fan opinion is that clubs should reward fans who go every week, win or lose, instead of trying to get one-time visitors who’ll pay a lot for a ticket and spend a lot of money in the club shop.

“Ten years ago, the FSA got the Premier League to cap away tickets at £30, and we urge clubs to talk to their fans and find new ways to make football affordable for everyone. We’re definitely talking about those things with the leagues.

“An incoming Independent Football Regulator should also make sure that ticket prices are discussed properly between a club and its fans, which is not the case at the moment.”

Tonight, protesters from both Everton and Fulham will gather at the statue of Dixie Dean at the top of Goodison Road and where it meets Spellow Lane.
