After hearing about the trouble at Roma, Claudio Ranieri spoke out and called into question the choices of Everton’s potential new owners. Even though they gave Daniele de Rossi a new contract in the summer, the Serie A team fired him in the first few weeks of the season (see below).

Ranieri believed that the call showed that money alone can’t make you successful. He had played for Roma and later coached them.

As a result of a rough start, De Rossi was fired in September after signing a three-year deal in June. The club is currently 10th in Serie A after losing at home to Inter on Sunday. Some fans are protesting against The Friedkin Group’s ownership because of how they treated de Rossi, who was a fan favorite because he played for his childhood club through most of his career, and because of problems off the field.

The U-turn on de Rossi was called “a mistake in planning” by Ranieri. He also said that TFG wasn’t completely to blame for the problems at the club because they are still waiting for regulatory approval to complete the takeover of Everton, but the move had left Roma without a star player.

He led Leicester City to the Premier League title and was 73 years old. “Roma seems like a cold soul, without personality,” he said. When they signed De Rossi, I didn’t get it. If you confirm him and give him a three-year deal, you’re telling everyone that we’re building a new team.

“Then you let your young coach do his job.” After four days, you can’t send him away. Why? If so, it means you made a mistake when you planned ahead.

Ranieri said in words that were picked up by Tuttomercatoweb, “Roma lacks a reference figure.” The Friedkins put a lot of money into it, so you can’t just blame them.

“However, they show that cash isn’t enough.” A club where having a point of reference is very important still lacks something. Because Rome is so unique, the fans need to be spoiled, helped, and pushed. But it looks like it’s cold instead.

Under TFG, Roma has placed seventh for three years in a row. During that time, they won the Europa Conference League and made it to the final and semi-finals of the Europa League.
