News about Nathan Patterson at Everton after the future of the former Rangers star was called into question

This season, the former Rangers star hasn’t kicked a ball because he’s been hurt a lot since moving to Goodison Park for £16 million. Even when he was healthy, though, he had trouble getting game time because boss Sean Dyche didn’t seem to believe in him.

Patterson frequently played behind senior Ireland international Seamus Coleman, but he also saw Ben Godfrey, Ashley Young, and James Garner take his place. Within three seasons, he has played less than 50 times for the first team Toffees, and most of those games were from the bench.

Some well-known Everton reporters are now wondering if the former Rangers player has a future at the Premier League team.

Nathan Patterson gets news from Dyche

The 23-year-old has been playing in Premier League 2 games for Everton’s under-21s. In his first two games, he played for about an hour each, and in his third game, he took the field for all 90 minutes.

So it looks like he’s getting closer to being able to play games for the first team, but the boss has stopped that from happening. Dixon is making progress, but Dyche says Patterson’s path to joining his team again will be “longer-term.”

“Just part of his long-term plan to get him back,” Sean Dyche told Sky Sports. Almost every day he looks better and fitter.

“He’s not quite there yet, but he trains all the time and hasn’t hurt himself yet, which is good news.”

At the Rangers, Patterson has “unfinished business.”

Patterson was a very good player who came up through the Rangers school. But captain James Tavernier was better than him at right back, even though Patterson was very good.

He did fill in for the captain when he could, but that probably meant he didn’t get as much football as he or the club would have wanted.

Because of this, the 23-year-old may have said he would love to go back to Ibrox and win more trophies. Because of how badly he’s been playing for Everton, that might happen sooner rather than later, which fans would love.

This is what Patterson said in December 2022: “Of course I’d love to go back to Rangers later in my career and finish what I started.”
