Martin Keown said that Everton star Jordan Pickford played “crazy” in England’s 2-1 loss to Greece on October 10.

In an interview with Jim White on talkSPORT (October 14, 10:25), Keown was shocked by Pickford’s shaky control of his box and some scary moments when England were left open.

In the first half, the Everton goalkeeper made a mistake that was very unlike him. He went well outside his box and was easily avoided, but Levi Colwill saved the day with a goal-line clearance.

Keown said this about the game: “The goalkeeper—it was a crazy performance from Pickford, it was unbelievable.”

“Oh, it was crazy,” White said.

The way Jordan Pickford has played for England will worry Sean Dyche at Everton.

England is going through a period of experimentation and change right now with Lee Carsley as their interim manager, but Pickford has always been a safe bet on the world stage.

Pickford is in the running to be his country’s best goalkeeper of all time. He is in the running because he has made several famous penalty saves in the dying rounds of many tournaments for England.

But Pickford has only kept one clean sheet for Everton so far this season and has been involved in other mistakes, so it is worth wondering if he is getting worse.

For England’s second game of the international break, against Finland on October 13, Carsley chose Dean Henderson over him. This could be another sign of a change in the guard.

He has a lot of respect for his country, though, and there isn’t a clear choice between the Blues’ goalkeepers. Pickford will hope that Sean Dyche will back him up as he tries to get back to playing his best.

On a different note, Farhad Moshiri was told about what was going on in the Goodison office as he was leaving.
