Arijanet Muric, the custodian for Ipswich Town, has been sent home from international duty ahead of schedule due to a violation of team rules while representing Kosovo. The 25-year-old will not be participating in Kosovo’s match against Cyprus on Monday, despite having played in their loss to Romania on Friday.

Muric was verified as one of three players who were sent home early after violating the national team’s regulations in a statement released by the Kosovo FA. Edon Zhegrova and Florent Muslija also departed the camp, and it is anticipated that additional measures will be implemented against all three players.

The statement stated that three players, Arjanet Muric, Edon Zhegrova, and Florent Muslija, have departed the national team gathering as a result of violating the national team’s regulations, as determined by the manager and the federation.

“The FFK executive committee will determine additional sanctions for the players in question.” Faton Maloku, the custodian from FC Drita who was previously on the reserve list, will be joining the team.

Muric was prompt to refute that account, stating to the Kosovan newspaper Klan Kosova, “The decision that was made against us was not fair at all, and the rumours that are circulating are untrue.”

Over the summer, the former Burnley custodian relocated to Portman Road, signing for Ipswich for an estimated £8 million. He was unable to participate in Ipswich’s inaugural match of the season due to an injury sustained during training. Christian Walton, on the other hand, was able to play against Liverpool.

Muric was reinstated in the Ipswich squad for their visit to Manchester City. However, he committed two egregious errors that resulted in goals during the first half. He was dispossessed on the outskirts of his own box, which allowed Erling Haaland to convert an easy opportunity. He then rushed out of his goal as the Norwegian striker rounded him to score again.

From that moment on, he firmly established himself in the game, executing an extraordinary save at full extension to prevent Haaland from scoring in the second half. The Premier League subsequently nominated it for the Save of the Month award for August.

Before the international break, Muric performed better in Ipswich’s home draw against Fulham, where he made a series of exceptional saves to assist the Tractor Boys in earning their first point of the season. It is probable that he will serve as the starting custodian for the Blues in their upcoming match against Brighton.

Muric was the first-choice custodian for Burnley when they won the Championship title in 2023 and made 55 appearances before joining Ipswich. Last season, he was not as prominent, as he shared the duties with James Trafford as the Clarets were relegated back to the second tier.
