REVEALED: Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane reveals his stance on taking the Man United managerial job

Zinedine Zidane has acknowledged that it is improbable that he will assume the role of manager at Manchester United, citing his reluctance to work in England as a significant factor.

The Frenchman, who has been absent from management since his second departure from Real Madrid in 2021, has been consistently associated with prestigious organisations, such as United.

Nevertheless, Zidane has disclosed that the linguistic barrier is a significant factor in his reluctance to join a Premier League club.

He stated in an interview with L’Equipe that, despite his comprehension of English, he does not feel sufficiently proficient to effectively manage in an English-speaking environment.

Zidane emphasised the importance of communication in achieving success, and he prefers to work in an environment where he can interact with the team completely without language barriers.

Zidane, in contrast to some managers who are at ease instructing in foreign languages, declared, “I operate differently.” He emphasised that a number of factors must be in alignment for him to join a club, with language being a critical factor.

According to the 52-year-old, “Would I be interested in visiting Manchester United?” Although I possess a basic understanding of the English language, I am not entirely proficient in it. I am aware that there are coaches who attend organisations without speaking the language, but I operate unconventionally.

He continued by stating, “It is a global context in which many elements are at play in order to win.” I am aware of the necessary steps to achieve victory.

Zidane’s decision also demonstrates his selectiveness and high standards. He has declined numerous high-profile positions since departing Real Madrid, such as those from Bayern Munich and numerous national teams.

Zidane has expressed his willingness to return to management if the appropriate opportunity presents itself, despite the fact that it is highly improbable that Manchester United will be the destination.

In 2014, Zidane began his coaching career with Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve team of Real Madrid.

Zidane was appointed as the first-team manager of Real Madrid in January 2016, succeeding Rafael Benitez during a period of turmoil for the club, following two years of refinement of his abilities and comprehension of the dynamics of coaching.

Zidane’s influence was both immediate and extraordinary. He guided Real Madrid to the 2015-16 Champions League title in his inaugural season, defeating Atletico Madrid in the final.

He became the first manager in the modern era to win the Champions League three times in a row, as he led the club to two more consecutive victories in 2017 and 2018. His success has since continued.

Zidane’s success was significantly influenced by his capacity to supervise a dressing room that was populated by superstars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, and Luka Modric.

In addition to European success, Zidane also guided Real Madrid to domestic victories. In the 2016-17 season, he emerged victorious in LaLiga, surpassing his fiercest rivals, Barcelona.

During his tenure, the club also achieved two FIFA Club World Cup titles and two UEFA Super Cups, which further solidified his reputation as a highly competent manager.

Zidane stunned the football world by resigning as Real Madrid manager following his third Champions League victory in 2018. He cited the necessity for a change in both his personal and professional career.

Nevertheless, his hiatus from football was brief. Zidane returned to Real Madrid in March 2019, less than a year after Santiago Solari was dismissed, and he was tasked with the task of re-establishing a team that was in a state of transition.

Zidane’s second tenure was marked by additional success, as he guided Real Madrid to the 2020 La Liga championship in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This victory was interpreted as a testament to his adaptability, as he successfully reconstructed a new-look team in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, who had departed for Juventus in 2018.

Nevertheless, his second tenure was characterised by inconsistency, notably in the Champions League, where Real Madrid was unable to advance to the final, despite his success.

Zidane departed Real Madrid for the second time in May 2021, this time due to his dissatisfaction with the club’s hierarchy’s failure to provide any support or clear direction.

Despite his numerous accomplishments, his departing letter conveyed his dissatisfaction with the manner in which his departure was managed.

Zidane has been associated with numerous high-profile roles since his departure, such as Manchester United, PSG, and the French national team.

Nevertheless, Zidane has maintained his prudence regarding his subsequent actions, emphasising that he will only return to management if the project is in accordance with his aspirations.
