Leeds United star Drew Green delivers judgement following Leeds United Women’s victory over Halifax
Drew Green, Leeds United Women’s attacker, has acknowledged that the 2-0 victory over Halifax on Wednesday, August 28th, was never straightforward.
The Whites were able to defeat their local rivals in the second round of the National League Cup, following up on their 3-1 victory over Fylde. However, they were unable to secure a victory against Stockport, eventually drawing 2-2 on September 1.
Green scored her first competitive goal for the club and maintained that the primary objective was to advance to the next round of the cup with the victory.
“It is always a pleasure to emerge victorious in a local derby during the week, particularly under the lights.” They presented us with numerous obstacles; however, we persevered and maintained our determination until we achieved our objective. She stated on the official club website [31 August] that it was beneficial to secure the victory in order to generate momentum for the weekend.
“It was a significant accomplishment to score my first competitive goal for Leeds, but it was clearly more important to contribute to the team and secure the victory in order to advance to the next round.”
Leeds Women are finally experiencing a satisfactory sequence of games following a season marked by numerous issues with a waterlogged pitch.
The club is presently ranked seventh in the FA Women’s National League Division One North and is scheduled to face Middlesbrough in their next match.
Simon Wood will be eager to maintain his team’s position in the competition for as long as possible, as they are only three points from the top spot after three league games.
At Thorp Arch, the West Yorkshire team will be buoyed by their recent success, which includes two victories and one draw in their last three matches.
Although there is still a significant amount of time remaining in the season, it appears that the Whites may have a unique campaign on their hands.
Particularly if they are able to maintain the fitness of all of their star players throughout the campaign.
