BREAKING: Chelsea sensational midfielder leaves club and joins Championship club on a loan deal

After being loaned to the London City Lionesses, Chelsea defender Cerys Brown will participate in the Women’s Championship during the forthcoming 2024/25 season.

The 19-year-old, whose tenure at the Women’s Super League champions was extended for an additional year earlier this summer, has returned to the Championship following an injury-plagued loan stint with Watford in the same division during the latter half of the previous season.

In 2022/23, Brown made her first-team début for Chelsea against Reading in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. She was also a member of the Blues team that won the FA Women’s Academy Cup final against Manchester United during the same campaign.

The young defender recently made a significant impression on the international arena while representing England at the Under-19s European Championship in Lithuania. She was selected to the team of the tournament.

Brown has joined the London City Lionesses, a team that finished ninth in the Championship last season and is currently under the leadership of Jocelyn Precheur, a former head coach of PSG. The club is currently experiencing an extremely thrilling period as a result of the acquisition by American entrepreneur Michele Kang in December 2023.

The team has announced that they will be relocating from Princes Park to Hayes Lane, a 5,000-capacity stadium in Bromley, London, since their arrival. Additionally, they have detailed their intentions to renovate their 23-acre training site in Kent, which they currently own.

Outside of the organisation, Kang has also disclosed her aspirations to expand the women’s game by providing financial support to initiatives. She is interested in investing in programs that will increase the number of female athletes and sports science data, as well as sharing research that will enhance physical, emotional, and mental health.

Kang has also committed to investing in new coaches and training techniques to promote the involvement of more female coaches in athletics.
