Man City are prepared to make a transfer move for Premier League wonderkid as per multiple reports

Manchester City may be preparing to re-enter the transfer market prior to the deadline on Friday.

Manchester City are reportedly planning to acquire a Premier League wonderkid this summer in order to enhance their squad and compete on all four fronts once more.

Manchester City’s transfer window has been relatively quiet thus far, with Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan serving as the sole acquisitions.

Nevertheless, the departure of Julian Alvarez is a setback for Pep Guardiola’s attacking options, and the midfield could be hampered if Matheus Nunes joins Atletico Madrid in the final days of the window.

Manchester City are interested in signing Evan Ferguson from Brighton this summer, as the 19-year-old has impressed the hierarchy at the Premier League champions, according to Football Transfers.

Arsenal is also interested in acquiring the Republic of Ireland international, and the report indicates that Ferguson would cost approximately £70 million. However, City would prefer to negotiate a loan agreement before finalising a permanent relocation next summer.

However, Brighton CEO Paul Barber has previously acknowledged that Ferguson will eventually depart the Seagulls; however, he emphasised that it will not occur for at least another five years. Ferguson’s contract extends until 2029, and the alleged £70m fee is significantly lower than the nine-figure valuation Brighton has previously offered to Manchester United and Chelsea.

Ferguson has scored 12 goals in 47 appearances since making his Premier League debut in February 2022. This includes a hat-trick against Newcastle at the start of the previous season. However, it is exceedingly unlikely that he will make a transfer this window due to an ankle injury he sustained in March of this year, which resulted in his absence from the start of the new season.

The striker is valued at £45 million by Transfermarkt.

In FourFourTwo’s opinion, it is nearly impossible for Ferguson to depart Brighton this summer, particularly at the prices that have been quoted. Interest from interested parties will be influenced by his injury, and the fee is a significant deterrent. Brighton would also be uninterested in a loan.
