Cole Palmer, a graduate of the Man City academy and a devotee of Man United, has since been a standout player for Chelsea since his arrival at Stamford Bridge from the Etihad last summer.

Jamie Carragher is of the opinion that Cole Palmer, a notable player for Chelsea, could join Manchester United next season if the Blues have a disappointing campaign under Enzo Maresca.

Last weekend, Manchester City defeated Maresca’s team 2-0 in their inaugural Premier League match of the new season. Nevertheless, Chelsea was able to rebound with an impressive 6-2 victory over Wolves on Sunday, which saw Palmer score his first goal of the 2024/25 campaign.

Carragher, the Liverpool legend, has expressed his opinion on the potential consequences for the England and Chelsea star if his current club experiences another unsuccessful season. After a chaotic campaign, Mauricio Pochettino departed the west London club, which finished sixth in 23/24 and failed to capture a trophy.

“Something has suddenly occurred to me here.” “We were discussing earlier that Manchester United would have a significant issue on the right wing if Chelsea has another poor season,” Carragher stated in an interview with The Overlap.

“He [Palmer] is an avid supporter of Manchester United, is he not?” If the outcome is unfavourable, would it not be warranted for United to conduct an inspection in the next twelve months? Well, I believe that is a possibility. Cole Palmer has been transferred to Manchester United.

The England international advanced through Manchester City’s academy and subsequently secured seven significant trophies at the senior level as a member of Pep Guardiola’s squad. However, the versatile attacker departed the Etihad last summer in order to pursue additional first-team opportunities.

Palmer relocated from City to Stamford Bridge last summer in a £42.5 million transaction. Since his Chelsea debut against Nottingham Forest in September 2023, the 22-year-old has become a Premier League sensation, scoring 26 goals in all competitions for the Blues.
