BREAKING: Liverpool on the verge of closing a major deal to sign sensational player according to Fabrizio Romano
Transfer Fabrizio Romano told GIVEMESPORT in an exclusive interview that Liverpool’s summer signing of Valencia and Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is now “very close” to happening, despite the fact that the original plan to loan him out to Bournemouth for the 2024–2025 Premier League season has fallen through.
Alisson Becker is one of the best goalkeepers to have ever graced the English top flight, but the Reds are preparing for the Brazilian’s possible exit in the future. As a result, they have chosen 23-year-old Mamardashvili as their main target after conducting a comprehensive study of the market.
Although it wasn’t the club’s original plan to acquire a second fiddle glovesman for Alisson, Arne Slot and company have focused on Mamardashvili after Adrian left for fresh opportunities this summer and Caiomhin Kelleher was eager to leave Anfield.
The Merseyside-based team and the transfer target, whose La Liga bosses have approved the move, reached an agreement in mid-August for the Georgian custodian, who excelled for his country at Euro 2024.
More recently, as the Reds sought to sign their first player of the summer transfer season, Romano took to X (previously Twitter) to claim that Mamardashvili’s transfer to the former Premier League winners is nearing completion.
The always dependable Romano stated in an exclusive interview with GIVEMESPORT that the goalkeeper’s transfer to Anfield is “very close,” albeit it hasn’t been finalised as of yet.
He will remain at Valencia for one more season before joining Liverpool in the summer of 2025, the transfer insider said, insisting that the initial arrangement to loan him out to Bournemouth had fallen through.
Mamardashvili finds it to be really near. It’s not finished in this instance. Based on what I’ve been told, the contract structure still needs work, but the agreed upon sum of 35 million euros includes a sell-on provision for Valencia.
“The initial agreement called for Mamardashvili to spend one season on loan at Bournemouth before moving to Liverpool in 2025. However, this option was withdrawn, therefore Mamardashvili will remain at Valencia for one season on his own before moving to Liverpool in the summer of 2025. The gamer has previously consented to all terms, both in terms of money and technology. It’s on the club now.
The position of centre back is another one that manager Slot and his team are eager to bolster before the deadline that approaches quickly next week. While Ibrahima Konate and Jarrel Quansah are two possibilities to team with the imposing Dutchman, Virgil van Dijk is an unchangeable asset.
However, Joe Gomez’s future at Charlton Athletic is uncertain, and GIVEMESPORT sources have claimed that Chelsea’s Levi Colwill has been identified as Joe Gomez’s possible summer successor.
Considering that Sepp van den Berg just made a £25 million move to Premier League team Brentford, it makes sense to sign a central defender of Colwill’s age, 21, who was born in Southampton, especially because Slot is in the midst of his crucial rookie campaign.
